I am looking to start studying for the IRSE Exams this year. Not 100% sure of the process!

My current employer has offer support for this by way of allowing me time in our design office and with the testing team if needed.

I am currently a Signalling PE and want the IRSE exams to help bolster my application for IEng.

Are there any study groups down in the South West that anyone knows about?

It states copyright 2011, but given the picture of the Olympc Rings at St Pancras international shown on page 67 it would appear to be more recent than that.

Certainly it would seem to be a very good source of what is effectively current information about the topic and hence particularly useful for the Module 1 (and also I suspect the Module 7) paper of the IRSE exam.
Hence I would recommend study by those wishing to extend their understanding of the topics in the context of UK mainline railway and indeed in railway systems more generally.]]>

Extrapolation is always somewhat dodgy, but looking at the graph there is a clear trend.  To be honest it is more likely to be exponentially decaying rather than a linear decline, but this simple extrapolation would predict that no one at all will be passing the exam module by the end of this decade if things continue as they are!

Over the last few years I have been campaigning to make the exam 3 times 30 minute questions, in line with all the other modules (except mod2 which is completely different) and changes were made over the last couple of years to achieve this.  I still believe the change was sensible; but it clearly isn't the answer.  Time for others to make suggestions based on their theories..........]]>

There is now only just over 5 months to the exam so if you are serious about sitting then you really should be getting stuck in and having a go at questions.
My challenge then is for those who are interested is to attempt 2 questions from the 2009 exam by 20th May and then we'll discuss the offerings. For those who are just starting then you may need to study matrerial in parallel with attempting your answer to be able to do so, but the practice of constructing an answer to fill those daunting blank sheets of paper is the first hurdle to overcome.]]>
