Hi,
Can anybody tell me what happened to the TPWS-E system?
apparrently it was in the pipe line to be fitted as a ETCS compatible ATP system.

Siemens proposed this but, apart from a few trial sites just to prove concept, it never got anywhere. Might well have been sensible and certainly would have provided a migration path as well as a better long term solution, but really proposal came too late and would have also take longer to implement re the on-board fitment in particular : the speed of fitment of TPWS was always of the essence and it didn't compete in that context. Unlikely therefore to be implemented- but NEVER say NEVER. It'll be interesting to watch the GWML upgrade and I wonder whether it will find a short term application there if we get ETCS compatible trains and need to phase out the existing ATP......
