Mock Exam

But yes, a good idea to go through the motions of actually taking the exam before the real thing. And of course a discussion afterwards would benefit all. I'm just wondering whether a month before the exam is a bit late, time wise? In terms of having time to get feedback on the questions, plus brushing up on any weak areas identified. Although I do still see the benefit of doing it, just to see how we cope with the pressure of the exam etc.

(Something else - If I couldn't make it to a local centre, I would attempt an online version.)

Yes I too feel that such timing is too tight, but I am told that many only concern themselves about exams at the last minute nowadays, so this was a factor in the suggestion. In previous years we have run Signet event in mid August and that perhaps would be at a more appropriate time, although there can be clashes with those affected by family summer holidays.
We are not really sure why the Signet event was much less popular this time than in previous years; perhaps it was too early, perhaps not enough prior notice, perhaps wording was discouraging- feedback on this would also be appreciated.

It was evident last weekend that many were at a very early stage of their exam preparation and few gave in work prior. The original idea had been for the last session to have had a 30 minute exam experience, but it seemed that there wasn't enthusiasm for actually doing that. I think that Jerry was right re what he said afterwards; I should have made everyone write for the first 5 minutes after the reading time; this would have actually got people to commit pen to paper and could have judged whether the first element of the answer had been addressed withinits alloted time- I missed a trick there. A lesson to learn for future years.

Let's get more views re how many weeks before the exam and which day of the week (or if you'd prefer a weekend) would suit for attempting to arrange a mock exam.
Also volunteers for those able to organise a centre in a place convenient to them and open to others
