2010 Study Groups
#11
2010 Study Group link http://www.irse.org/Documents/CW/StudyGr...2.4.10.doc
Derby study group is likely to start at the end of October 2010. It will be based at DeltaRail, external people welcome.

The basis will be a self-help group dealing with issues in modules 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7. It is aimed at those wishing to improve their professional understanding and to help others improve theirs.

Probably bi-weekly, on Wednesdays on Pride Park and other local guest establishments with a networking session afterwards in a local hostelry.

If you wish to attend them please PM me.

I had intended getting to this evenings IRSE London paper and discuss with anyone there where we might be with Mod 4 and Mod 6 study material and study groups.

However, this did not work out and I was unable to make it.

I'll have to resort to emails and phone class but still aim to have something to work on soon.

Can you make the Exam Review on 20th?
We might be able to canvass what interest there is amongst the audience for the barious modules, so if you let me know what you are thinking prior....

there is some interest for 4 and 6 within LU - as far as i know, none of us has of yet reviewed the sylabus in full so not fully decided whether to go for these ones.

Will be at the exam review on the 20th

Does anyone know of any study groups in or around London, or if any are planned for this year.

Actually I answered this one lat night, although admittedly as part of a multi-facetted question and for this topic not within as appropriate part of the Forum as here. Therefore I have copied my earlier response below:

There is no list yet available for where Study Groups will form.
Basically all it needs is a group of people to arrange to get together for mutual benefit and for an employer willing to permit the use of a meeting room at the end of the day. Suggest you use the YM AGM / Exam Review on Thursday and / or this Forum to try to get one started.

There were groups at Euston and Holborn in 2010 which may well be continuing; I don't know about the Croydon group but since it was Peter Scott who was the main driver who has sadly now died I doubt that it will meet unless someone reinvigorates; however all these groups really are best run by the YM students themselves.
