2013 Q4 Lineside and Cab Signalling - greatnessjason - 09-09-2014

A project is progressively replacing existing lineside signalling with a cab signalling system in
a series of stages, resulting in a transition period where both systems are in use. Consider two
scenarios:
(i) A driver passes to and from areas of lineside signals and cab signalling during one train
journey;
(ii) A driver is driving using new cab signalling in an area where existing lineside signals are
still in use.
For each scenario, explain how both signalling systems can be arranged to ensure safe
operation without causing driver confusion. Include a brief description of what lineside and
cab signalling systems you have assumed. [25 marks]

Here are my scribbles- hopefully can be read as did on train and I think that GWR no longer maintaining their HSTs so well as they are soon to be replaced and the quality of the ride is not as good as it used to be!
